What We Do
Reunifying with agriculture, one person at a time

What’s the problem?
After seeing family and friends unintentionally neglect their bodies with poor food choices and absence from nature, founder Alexis Cho knew from her ancestral line of farmers that there was a need for community agricultural connection and education on nourishing our wellbeing. More than 1.7 million Pennsylvanians, including 1 in 6 children, faced food insecurity in 2023. The CBSD community faces a 4% poverty rate, and numbers of local farms that provide clean, fresh food continue to dwindle.
Our Mission
The purpose of The Good of Green is to reunify the community with agriculture through educational events, propagation of fresh food, and the distribution of agricultural resources to those in need.

The GROW Team
Our GROW team includes every member, manager, leader, and many more involved in executing The Good of Green’s mission. With multiple garden locations and partnerships with various farms, each subsection of our team contributes to the beneficial work we do for the community. Our GROW team’s work involves maintaining the gardens, planting new seeds, creating events, innovating projects, and bringing food directly to you, among other work! As a team, we are working to make agriculture and health education accessible for all.

Partnerships

Barclay (Central Bucks) Farmers Market
Most of our produce goes to the Barclay Farmers Market, serving hundreds of families each month and connecting students to build a greener future.
Spring Creek Farm
Providing opportunities for the community to learn about regenerative agriculture and clean eating, our partnership with Spring Creek reminds us of the power of local farms.
Fluxspace
With the generous support of Fluxspace, our gardens can reach their full bloom.
Plumsteadville Grange Farm Market
An opportunity for an intimate connection with agriculture, this hub of local farms provides The Good of Green with generous support, advice, and a beautiful connection.
Pennypack Farm & Education Center
Offering numerous educational opportunities, our partnership with the nonprofit Pennypack Farm allowed us to give back to the farmers who serve us.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
With the E.P.A., we brought in local scientists to teach us about the power of agriculture and how environmental changes affect our bodies.
Warrington Farmers Market
A hub of community connection, our partnership with the Warrington Farmers Market brought audiences to learn about the goodness of green.
Central Bucks School District
Our network of gardens throughout the Central Bucks Schools has been fueled by the kindness and support of each of our schools and all the people within them.
Each Team is Unique
We do not approach our work with a one-size-fits-all outlook. That’s why each of our garden teams and each of our subgroups is unique, dedicated to their task at hand. Some of our teams are divided into “committees,” with members dedicated to maintaining the garden, while others are working on projects like events, social media, and more! With the generous assistance of adult sponsors, our student-led teams are constantly innovating and seeking to catalyze change in our community towards recognizing the good of green.
How it works
Growing Our Gardens
1.
Planting seeds
We host workshops and collaborations for our school communities to get involved in cultivating life through each seed.
2.
Growing produce
Our dedicated GROW team members work to sustain each garden, ensuring the growth of fresh food.
3.
Serving to community
Through our partnership with Barclay Farmers Market and occasional other pantries, our produce works to meet the needs of the CB community.
4.
Ensuring wellbeing
Taking it one step further, we provide education and cooking collaborations to create fresh, ready-to-eat meals for our families’ tables.

From gardens to farms
Reaching Our Communities
Our work extends beyond our gardens to the soils of our local farms and the tables of our families.
Agricultural partnerships
From farms to farmers’ markets and local businesses, we strive to partner with our local community to create events, foster volunteerism, and provide resources that help us all grow.
Expanding our horizons
We are working to establish an online presence to expand our resources and passion for agriculture beyond our community.
